Originally Developed by Council in 2014 – Updated in 2024

The Cape Paterson Bay Beach Activity Masterplan was initially developed by Council in 2014 to guide the long-term planning and development of the Cape Paterson foreshore area. In 2024, this Masterplan has been updated to reflect current community needs, environmental considerations, and anticipated growth in coastal use including the effect from the 2019 storm and flood event and its impact on the Bay Beach precinct.

2024 Masterplan Amendment Overview

The updated 2024 amendment includes plans to support the construction of a new multi-purpose facility at the Cape Paterson Bay Beach precinct. This new development will:

• Provide a modern, fit-for-purpose home for the Wonthaggi Life Saving Club
• Continue to deliver Lifesaving services at the Cape Paterson Bay Beach
• Improve accessibility, safety, and amenities for beachgoers and volunteers
• Support community engagement, education, and coastal safety initiatives
• Enhance resilience and response capability during emergency incidents
