Wonthaggi Life Saving Club offers a range of school based programs to teach students essential water safety and lifesaving skills in a fun, hands on environment. Our programs cater to students from Prep to Year 12 and can be delivered at your school during any term.

 

SPLASH Program – Prep to Year 12

Our SPLASH (Safety and Prevention Learning lifesaving skills At the Shoreline and in the H2O) program is designed to teach students essential water safety and lifesaving skills in a safe, engaging, and interactive way.

Through SPLASH, students learn:

  • How to stay safe at the beach and in the water
  • Basic lifesaving techniques including CPR and rescue skills
  • Awareness of hazards like rips, currents, and surf conditions
  • Confidence and water safety knowledge that can last a lifetime

The program is delivered directly to local schools and combines practical activities, demonstrations, and interactive learning to make water safety education both fun and memorable.

 

Meet a Lifesaver (Prep to Year 2)

This program introduces younger students to lifesaving and beach safety. Students will learn:

  • What lifesavers do
  • DRSABCD (basic rescue and first aid)
  • Safe places to swim at the beach
  • Hands on first aid practice
  • A chance to try on lifesaving uniforms
  • Slip, Slop, Slap Leadership

 

Beach Program (Prep to Year 5)

Similar to our Nippers program, this course teaches children the basics of lifesaving, CPR, and first aid through fun games and interactive activities. Modules are adapted to suit the students’ age and ability, making it an engaging introduction to beach safety.

 

Leadership Program (Year 6+)

For older students, this program provides the opportunity to earn the Surf Life Saving Australia Surf Rescue Certificate or Bronze Medallion. Participants gain practical skills in:

  • Surf awareness
  • Aquatic rescue operations
  • Resuscitation techniques

This course prepares students to act as Water Safety Personnel and develop leadership skills, fostering the next generation of lifesavers.
